What is Rifidi?
Rifidi is an open source RFID Environment emulator.   Using Rifidi you can create virtual readers that behave exactly like a real Reader.   You can then control these readers and make them perform operations just like a real reader does.

Rifidi lets developers design, develop and test complex RFID applications without the constant need for RFID Hardware.

Project Goals
The main goal of the Rifidi project is to make RFID development easier and more accessible.  The closed nature of RFID technology makes it impossible to design, develop or otherwise dabble without expensive and complicated hardware.  Rifidi aims to give the power of RFID back to the developers who are the key to any successful technology.

You can read more about the project's goals and how it got started in the About Rifidi Section.

Target Audience
Rifidi is a tool to aid in RFID Development.   As such it is primarily intended for developers with a little knowledge of RFID, a little more knowledge of J2EE and a lot of interest in developing RFID applications.

Useful for:

  • Developers currently building an RFID application
  • Developers who want to support a previously built application
  • Software Companies seeking to test their products
  • Consulting Companies wishing to prototype a specific application
